Saturday Morning Bball at Dolores Park

our team lost and we have to wait. i hate waiting. waiting sucks cuz all you could think about is how you lost to a bunch of dipshits. and then you realize, if theyre dipshits and they won, then what the hell are you? finally we get to play and there are four of us. we normally play with this one guy....he is good but he has already played. we were suppose to pick up the next player waiting. but we didn't...we didn't want to lose and so we shrugged off court rules and choose this guy.

so the guys that wanted to play ended up having to wait another turn. it sucks and it wasn't fair. some other dude said....."man this is a republican court".....everyone chuckled. but to be fair...we lost...and we deserved it. the basketball gods have spoken....

Time for Some Bluegrass!

oh goodness....its that time of the year again....Hardly Bluegrass in the park (or something like that). every six grader is invited to bluegrass in the park every year. i have no idea who sponsors this event every year but it is an incredible undertaking. i imagine it is costly as well. whoever it is, they must have a lot of dough or influence to keep this up on a yearly bases. i love bluegrass for what it is....dance music and pure joy. its a part of a tradition that celebrates joy....how can anyone not like having fun?!?!?!

anyways, the 6th grade crew sometimes dread it. field trips can sometimes be a chore, especially the ones that you don't really plan as a department or the ones that pop up in less than two weeks. with so many standards to cover, field trips can really put a strain on planning.

but having opportunities to connect with your kiddies is priceless......so take advantage of it.

anyways, here's another thing that was priceless......one of the bands invited kids to go up there and dance with them. so a little brave boy from one of the middle schools went up there to represent his school. he said he came up there to break dance...what? so the band did their best to fuse bluegrass as close to b-boy music as they can. and the boy thought he was turbo from beat street! of course, the teachers were laughing their heads off with the contrast and the kids were cheering him.....that made my day.

Top Chef Champ 2007: Hung

okay top chef just ended and hung is the winner. of course, leyla thought casey would win because she is a girl and no girl has won before. i thought that hung would win because he has been consistently in the top of most competition throughout the year. i based my findings on what they have done throughout the year whereas leyla likes to think the producers control the outcome of the the show.

"this is not a contest, its a tv show!" -leyla. i like to think there is some degree of integrity in the world of television and leyla thinks the winner is determined by Bravo. she says my innocence is cute and i think she is cynical. she just laughs at me.
