Oh My Goodness...We Prepared the Turkey This Thanksgiving!!!!
oh my god, we prepared the turkey and the food this thanksgiving. we went to the oc this christmas to spend time with leyla's family. unfortunately, leyla's mom had to travel to washington dc to attend a wedding. so we end up having to cook the traditional din din for everyone. i have always relied on my mom to cook everything. i figure she is incredible at everything why mess it up by helping her. well, leyla feels the same why as i do. in fact, it think my borthers and sister and her sister all feel the same way. so what does that all sum up: a generation of completely unable to pass the traditon to their kids!
there is still time so we are no so worried but we sure were sweating bullets serving the crap we bought from Ralphs. we didn't even try to make the mash potatoes, yam, stuffing, cranberries, but leyla can proudly claim the only genuine dish on the table was the sald she prepared. hell....i had no idea we were suppose to have a temperature gauge up the turkey's gazoo while its baking! of course, i pretended i had experience and blew off the temp guage saying,"if you have enough experience, you really don't need the guage at all."
of course, the two sisters agreed, not so much because they knew i had a lot of experience and they can trust me, but they really didn't have a choice and nor do they want to take any responsibility fucking up the turkey. they were all going to hand the whole kaboodle to me. the whole time i was praying it turns out well.
turkey din din was even more complicated when leyla invited her uncle and his family. of course, a very common thing to do, but damn, they have to eat the food as well. i ust hope they are still fobs from iran and turkey is so alien to them that they wont know what's good or what's bad.....actually, leyla, myself, and hey sister were probably all thinking that way.....hehehehehehe
it turned out just fine and they all complemented me even though i had no idea how to cut the turkey. supposedly, there is a certain way of cutting the turkey and i don't think i wan't doing it correctly. this would have been a great "what no to do during Thanksgiving" episode on the tlc channel or something......
